Client: Harold Adkin & Sons (S-in-A) Ltd

Site: Annesley Parish Hall, Annesley, Notts

Products: Supply & installation – 2no Steel Security Doors, 2no Steel Fire Exit Doors.

An initial enquiry was received for the supply and installation of four external steel doors on a contract to refurbish the Annesley Parish Hall. Nottinghamshire, NG15 0AG.

In an attempt to meet the non-standard specification our ‘specialist’ doors were quoted with continuous stainless hinges and rockwool infill to the two doors in the Main Hall and Kitchen. The doors were also quoted with a non-standard White – RAL 9003 finish. For added security the single leaf security door to the External Store was supplied with a sashlock with levers and high and low level deadlocks. The double leaf security door, to the Boiler Room was also supplied with the same sashlock and high and low level deadlocks. The passive leaf, of the double door, was fitted with internal surface mounted bolts. The single leaf door and the active leaf door were fitted with doors closers as specified by the Architect. The locks were supplied with internal thumbturns to ensure that personnel could not be locked in the rooms. The locks were supplied with standard euro cylinders which were to be changed, by the client, for mastered items to match other doors on the project.

The fire exit doors were also fitted with enhanced furniture to increase the security. The single leaf fire exit door to the Kitchen was fitted with a MAB three point latching panic bar with an external access facility. This door would be the final exit door on the building. The double fire exit door to the Main Hall was fitted a MAB five point latching panic bar with no external access.

Site: Widnes Cemetery.

Products: Supply & delivery – 1no Steel Security Door

After an enquiry through our website we quoted for the supply and delivery only of a single leaf security door for the entrance to Widnes Cemetery. The door was to be fitted with a sashlock and lever handles and required a letter plate. As the door was to open outwards, for added security, the door needed to be supplied with two full height 100mm x 50mm RHS posts, to the lock side of the door, in order that the door did not contact the external brickwork plinth to one side of the opening. The door was powder coated in Dark Sapphire – RAL 5003 from our standard stock range. The door was ordered on 19 July and delivery made on 7 August, to suit the clients requirements.

As a result of the clients satisfaction with the product and service provided we have since supplied a further door.

Client: Picow Engineering Ltd, Runcorn, Cheshire.

Site: Boiler Room, Victoria Park, Widnes.

Products: Supply & deliver – 1no Steel Louvred Security Door

A louvred steel door was specified for a boiler room in Victoria Park, Widnes. The enquiry called for a ‘fully louvred’ door. We therefore quote for a steel security door incorporating a non-standard 610mm w x 1524mm h louvred panel. The door was also fitted with a five lever deadlock, with a pair of bolt through pull handles and a limit stay. Due to external restrictions the door had to be hinged to open inwards and was therefore supplied with a special 25mm high ‘inward opening’ threshold to prevent water ingress.

Client: AAVA Architects, London E2 7LF

Site: Hugo Boss Store, Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham

Products: Supply & installation – 1no ‘Crossguard’ CX3 Retractable Security Grille

After an email enquiry through our website we quoted for the supply and installation of a ‘Crossguard’ CX3 Retractable to the side entrance of the new Hugo Boss Store in the centre of Nottingham. The initial quotation was based on emailed photographs of the opening. After a site survey was taken and discussions with the Architect it was decided to use a single grille unit with a lockable lift-up bottom track. The grille was extended above the arched opening to a height of 2920mm high and stacked to the right hand side leaving a clear unobstructed opening when the grille was open. The Architect confirmed that the structure, within the plasterboard wall cladding would provide sound fixings for the grille.

Installation of the grille was arranged to be carried out after 8.00pm when the shop was closed. Unfortunately when it was attempted to fix the grille it was found that there was a deep void behind one side of the opening before structurally sound brickwork could be found. The initial installation was therefore aborted.

After further discussions with the Architect we agreed to return to site and carry out modifications to the opening to provide support for the grille. The plasterboard was neatly cut away, the full height of the opening, and timber post packers were secured to the brickwork. The grille was fitted and the structure made good to the clients satisfaction.

Client: Mr T Barker

Site: Cedar Park Drive, Bolsover, Derbyshire, S44 6XP

Products: Supply & installation – 1no ‘Crossguard’ CX3 & 4no CX2 Retractable Security Grilles

After an email enquiry through our website it was arranged with Mr T Barker to visit his home to discuss his security concerns as there had been a spate of burglaries in the area. It was agreed that physical security was required to the rear of the property, the side window and the door to the garage.

We quoted for CX2 grilles to the kitchen window, the rear sitting room window and the two patio windows to the lounge and extension. An upgraded CX3 was quoted for the garage door. An external roller shutter to the garage was considered but it was felt that that an internal grille would be the better option. The grilles were supplied in Van Dyke Brown to suit the hardwood windows instead of the standard Traffic White finish.

The quotation was submitted on 28th August. Mr Barker instructed us to proceed on the 4th September and the grilles were installed on 19th September, the day prior to the client going on holiday.
